Two men sat in a cramped cell, huddled over a chess board with others looking on.

The battle raged on the board, back and forth the men sparred back and forth in the pitched battle. Turn after turn pieces were taken and the men came closer to a resolution, every so often one would mumble "Check", only to scowl in disspointment as they saw their plan go awry. And then finally only ten pieces were left on the board.

Suddenly the older player remarked, "This game, is not about war, but politics. One loss, one gain, give and take, but all in a zero-sum game. Out of everyexchange, there is one winner." and with that he moved a piece slowly and deliberately.

The younger man didn't look up from the board as he moved his rook in response to the Old Man's attack. He simply responded, "Really now?"

And suddenly the old man moved his queen into position, and smiled broadly, "Yes. Checkmate."

The young man looked at his board in dismay and then looked up and nodded. "Yes it is... Good game Horace."

Horace chuckled and nodded, "Yes good game Vaen."
