ARREST PROCEDURE =
Take prisoners to the Nujelm jail.
Make sure a search for weapons &/or magical goods is done.
Strip them of any clothes and provide a jail robe.
Set up a trial date / time and note it in the jail log. OR, if a General or the Warlord is available at the time of arrest, you may hold an onsite trial.

(( OOCly: *Do NOT actually take anything away from a player's character for real. Let them keep their stuff, including clothes in their pack. Pretend that you have their stuff and place it somewhere in the jail.

*Give them a robe to wear. (Orange Jail robes will be kept in the chests of the guild hall of Armunn Keep for everyone's use. You can keep a robe in your pack on the off chance that you might arrest someone.)

*In the case of a future trial, Set up a trial time with the prisoner oocly (Party chat, RP chatroom, or ICQ). Post the trial date/time on a Reply in this forum topic. You may post all arrests & what occurred if you wish, but make sure you post any arrest that has an upcoming trial on this board. That way we can see it and prepare for it, or adjust the date/time if needed with the person. SEE TRIAL INFO beneath.
*Suggested Punishment is just that, "suggested". The judge does not have to follow the suggestion if he/she does not wish to.
*Any D|O can post the arrest in the Log for any other D|O if wanted/needed. Such as, Ivor makes an arrest but hates posting so Aulbrey posts it for him when he asks.
*The arresting officer does not HAVE to be at the trial unless they just want to, or feels it's needed. Anything related to that can be put down in notes on the log.))

TRIAL INFO = ((OOC))

Saturdays is the day I allotted for RP trials. This does not mean you HAVE to have it on that day. You may schedule a trial for any day or time that is agreeable to the main people who are going to take part in the trial (Judge, Def Attorney/Barrister, Pro Attorney/Barrister, & Accused). The time slot for Saturday is also completely open on most Saturdays, but please note that something last minute might get scheduled. (Raids, Oaths, etc)

No character officially declared as enemy should take part as staff of the court.

JUDGE Criteria = D|O Judges can be any character that is a D|O citizen (born on D|O soil, or fealty-sworn). D|O Judges can also be any member of House Armunn, except Lady Ditto Armunn. They cannot be a judge who knowingly dislikes the D|O. If anyone would like to make an alt to keep around just for use as an occassional judge and likes courtroom rp, and can follow D|O law, that would be great. A crafter that you'd like to have rp more might be a good idea for this. The D|O pays handsomely if the judge survives the trial. Rply. ((Asking outside the guild is fine. Whats especially fun is to ask a player who volunteers to make alt chars for others to use for plots and things.))
The Judge alt should have some knowledge (or at least seem like they do) of D|O law.
He/she should try to be either: Fair, or Partial to the D|O.
He/she should be law abiding themselves and act respectfully towards ranking D|O members.
He/she must be able to make decisions. (despite popular belief, Imryrr does not force the judges to decide in her favor...however, Imryrr Armunn reserves the right to overturn any decision made by a judge. (she will rarely do this))

Prosecuting Barrister Criteria = Must be either D|O Citizen or D|O military. Arresting Officer may choose to be the Prosecutor if he/she so wishes. Generals & above may appoint a prosecutor.

Defense Barrister = May be anyone other than declared enemy. This Barrister may be appointed by a General or above. Or, the Accused may be given the freedom to find/choose their Defense, though this is uncommon. If the Accused has no Defense at the beginning of trial the Judge, or highest ranking D|O soldier present should appoint a Defense Barrister.

Something to keep in mind at trial: The sworn word of a D|O soldier is considered to be "Evidence", not just witness testimony. It is the highest form of evidence in a D|O courtroom if used in the following context:
Asked- "Do you Swear upon your Honor...?" Answered- "I Swear upon my Honor..."

D|O soldiers as witnesses do not need to "plead the 5th". They simply state they refuse to answer, UNLESS, they themselves are on trial in a military tribunal which is something entirely different than a trial.
