Genna entered the Abbey , brushing the ashes from her dark green cloak. As she made her way through the hall she heard voices in a room off to her right. She stood outside the door adjusting her attire, making sure she was clean of soot, she then entered.

Chandra Moonfire , an orphaned elf raised in the Abbey, was at a table with two brown robed monks.Chandra looked up from the parchment on the table and smiled. Coming around the table and excusing herself from the monks, Chandra took Genna’s hands in her own.
“ Lady Genna, I am so very glad to see you.” The light in her pale face faded a little with the next sentence. “I wish it were under better circumstances. Please have a seat.”
As Genna sat down at the table Chandra brought a tray of wine and cheese. Chandra sat down after pouring the wine and offering the light repast.
“My lady, I have need of your assistance. I know the Yew Militia is stretched thin with the rioters and putting out fires. The wounded are beginning to pour into the Abbey looking for food and care. We are sadly lacking in supplies.”

Genna reached out to take Chandra’s hand. Her friend seemed worried and more than a little frantic.
“I know the rioting in the town has been taking a toll on everyone these days. The Militia has been out from daylight until dark daily, trying to speak to the rioters, feeding the hungry and putting out fires. We have had to arrest a few people, mainly to keep them from harming themselves and blackening the land.
“Lord Sunwolf leads us daily in our patrols and speaks to the people of Yew about taking care. The Mayor of Yew, Lady Janel has also been working tirelessly, riding out to look for fires and calming the fears of the townsfolk. I will speak to them about dropping supplies here at the Abbey. Please make a list of what your needs are and I will present it to Lord Sunwolf and Lady Janel next I see them.”

Chandra looked instantly more at ease. Genna stayed a while to help as much as she could with the townsfolk who had wounds from putting out fires.

After an exhausting day Genna arrived home and sat down to write a quick message to Lord Sunwolf and one also to be delivered to the Lady Mayor.

Riding through the Yew woodlands had always been one of Janel's favorite past-times even as a child. Her heart felt heavy as she rode past each building, singed with ash from the fires and broken glass littered the streets, her homeland looked more like a battlefield. Memories of old flooded her heart, relieving some of the pain, she remembered her jaunts through the woods with her childhood friend, Chandra Moonfire. Climbing the massive trees, sneaking in the abbey to sample the grapes at harvest time and giggling behind the carts in Heartwood at their fabricated stories of the workers were but a few of those precious times. She smoothed her horse's mane as he reared, attempting to calm him as the rioters shouted, shaking their pitchforks, she rode by surveying the damage. Her eyes were burning from the smoke, a cough tickled at the back of her throat, she continued her outing noticing the decrease in the animal population. A million thoughts jumbled in her thoughts, "How will this affect our citizens?, Will there be enough food to supply them"? Has their been loss of life? How many of our beautiful trees have fallen to the fire?"

She suddenly halted as she came into the clearing of her parent's healing center. It was bustling with activity as of late with the wounded and the sick. It was not the swarm of people that caught her eye but a fire raging outside the building. Flames lept up its sides, rioters circled the building, stoking its heat, tossing bottles filled with some explosive chemical. Janel quickly jumped from Rayne's saddle and grabbed a bucket of water, hurling it onto the fire. She felt a strong grip on her shoulder and heard a familiar voice, "Janel, go inside please, check on your parents, we have this under control.' SunWolf doused the flames as other Militia members subdued the hooligans creating the stir. Relieved though hesitant ,she moved toward the building in search for her parent's. Their lives were etched in every board of Deep Forest Healing, what would they do should their livelihood be lost. She caught her breath as she heard the door open and locked eyes with her father. He attended to the sick alongside her mother: Josef and Emmaline rarely took a day off. There was always someone or something to be tend to. Perhaps that is why she pushed herself so, the apple never does fall far from the tree.

After assessing the damage and finding it salvagable, Janel prepared her horse for their return to the Abbey. She had taken note of the pantry and medical supplies inside, "Tis definitely a time for frugal creativity to get us through the coming days" she thought. She tapped her horse with the gentle nudge of her boot and galloped back to the Abbey. Climbing the stairs to the makeshift office she made of a desk, she noticed the pile of letters awaiting her response. It had been a week since attempting to sit down and concentrate on the business matters of Yew, she felt compelled to be out along side her fellow citizens. At a glance, a familiar script captured her attention, she carefully opened the envelope and read the contents. Her eyes watered as she quickly jotted a few notes of what she would discuss with the militia captain later, as well as what she could do herself, to provide guidance and sustenance to Yew.
