Cat was frantic as she ran around Armunn Cottage, screaming for Ditto to answer her. She went from room to room hesitating in each doorway not wanting to walk inside and see Ditto's lifeless body, but knowing she had to look. She checked the entire house , exhausted she sat on the chair and wept. She unrolled the scroll and flattened it out on the table once more to read the words Ditto had written.

Dear Sweet Wonderful Cat, My Bestest Friend In My Heart of Hearts,

When you get this, I will be gone. It will be true that I am dead and it will not be as the trick I was gonna play on Taro for revenge of his trick to me all those years. I would not play that trick to you. But, know this, we will see each other again one day as death is not the end.

I leave to you all of my candy and my red cap. The cap I still keep cause it was the first thing you ever did make for me and I love it so. Taro liked it too a long time ago, and risked his life for it in Doom cause I wanted it back from the beasts there that took it from me. It was the first time Taro ever did anything for me, first time he ever risked his life for me. Please take good care of it.

I'm leaving Spooky all of my wine but please take it to him and make him share some of it with you. I mostly want to leave him a friend to visit him, so be sure ya save some wine to come back for in later days as well.

I am not doing this because of such sadness I have about Bree. I do this to save her. If I take myself and my secrets out of any hope of the Atalans to get to, then they will have no reason whatsoever to keep Bree. It was the only way I could think of to save her and Taro both. Please understand. And please please, make sure Bree gets to Juju so Juju can send her back to Tarothin to be safe.

I love you Cat and always will.

PS: Xas, your butt does look big in that.

Cat left the Armunn cottage and not knowing why, she headed to Striker's house. He was there and as he opened the door for her , she fell into his arms sobbing. He whispered softly to her , asking what was wrong while he held her close. Between sobs she told him of the message from Ditto and the empty cottage. As he helped her to a chair and spoke softly to her , he asked her questions she would answer automatically. Where would Ditto go if she needed time alone to think? Who would Ditto go to if she needed to work out some problem?
Cat began to make a list of places and people, they started at the top of the list and traveled to Hanses Hostel. She checked the tavern then ran outside behind the stable where the pixies lived. She screamed Ditto's name over and over. Striker followed behind her , yelling Ditto's name and trying to speak to the pixies, asking them if they had seen anyone there. They found no one.
Ditto had told Cat the night before she had been with some of the men from Moonglow, so they traveled to the Moonglow Headquarters. There were men there gathered to train as Cat and Striker arrived. Cat asked to please speak to Ryu and was told to wait. Ryu arrived in a few minutes along with Acheron, but they had no answers for her. The last time they had seen Ditto was in a city Cat had never heard of, and Cat had seen her after her excursion so she knew she wasn't still there.
Next on the list was Molly. They searched Luna for a house that belonged to "House Gauntlet". When they found one they searched it from top to bottom, but again found no one. The last place Cat could think of was Galnor's house. They traveled there but ....no one could be found.
Striker held Cat as she sat on the steps of Galnor's house, he whispered to her that things would get better, Ditto couldn't be gone. Cat was only hopeful because they had not found Ditto's body, they had not found any evidence that someone had died. Cat prayed that Ditto was with Galnor, or had decided to go home to Tarothin. Striker took Cat home and when he knew she had calmed down he told her he was going to go and research a "locator" spell. He wasn't sure there was such a thing, but there might be a spell he could modify.
He left Cat with hope but she sat in front of the fire in her chair with a deep ache in her heart. Whispering to the wind she said " Please Ditto, don't leave me again"

Striker swung the door to his house shut, and slid down the wall onto the floor. He covered his face with his hands in an attempt to hide the tears that where beginning to run down it.

His conversation with Judas had left him even more distraught. They had spoken at length about Bree's captivaty, and the possible reasons as to why. The Bard, and mage had mulled over theories as to why Bree's mother, Ditto, would take her own life when there still stood a chance that Bree still could be freed. Then Judas, had hit him with something he hoped to wake up from, something that could only possibly be taken out of his worst nightmares. Cat, the woman he had just met but had already began to fall for, had been tricked into signing a contract that made her a slave to The Atalon. A group who he had never came across, but had only heard described as pure evil. This news had struck Striker deeply. It was as if his last shining beckon of hope had been torn from his hands.

"Why? Why must I always be the bearer of misfortune? Have you not taken enough from me already?" He said aloud, looking up towards the ceiling. The mage reached into his travel bag, and pulled out a bottle of ale. He popped the cork, slid the bottle to his lips, then stopped. "Pace yourself", he recalled Judas saying to him earlier that night as he had attempted to drink away his sorrows. Striker sat the bottle on the floor beside him, and pushed the cork back in. "You words are very wise Judas. This is no time to give up when still there remains chances, and I cannot have Ale clouding my judgement."

Striker picked himself off the ground, and made his way to his study. "Every enchantment has a way to be broken it's simply figuring out the way to do it." He said to himself as he took a seat, and opened a dusty spellbook..

Cat's and Striker's arrival the day before had the worse timing possible. Both Ditto and Galnor were in a sealed back room discussing what to do about the situation of her awakened state and wanting to rush to action. They couldn't hear the knocking.

When Juju had arrived before, to drop off her bundle to the unknowing lord, she'd been met with suspicion. He seemed hessitant to allow the woman in his home at all until she partially unravelled the rug to reveal Ditto. Even then, he seemed put out by her minor invasion when he'd reached down to gently pick up the rug and carried it easily inside. She had explained the situation to him. Tarothin had written her to make sure Ditto didn't do anything rash. She was to cease involvement with the Bree's rescue and the Red People. Juju was to stop any foolishness of her lady by any means necessary short of killing or causing permanent harm to her. Perhaps he hadn't told her to hit his wife over the head to knock her out, but she was sure he wouldn't mind in this case, considering Ditto had been in such a state that she was going on about killing herself to save Bree and Tarothin and even instructed Juju to send her dead body back to her husband. The old witch hadn't felt bad for it. She'd wanted to hit all of the Armunns in the head at one time or another. But in front of Galnor, she knew that entrusting him with Lady Armunn meant that it might involve him awakening her. So she explained carefully that he held all of their lives in his hands should Ditto be uncontrollable and make yet another attempt for Bree's freedom. He had smirked. He didn't fear death and he didn't fear Tarothin's wrath even knowing what the beast was capable of. He had questioned Juju on what set Ditto off so. She explained that the meeting with the Red People had gone very badly and Ditto was in such a terrible state by the time she read Tarothin's last letter that it had driven her stupid, according to Juju.
After the old housekeeper took her leave, Galnor carried Ditto upstairs.

A while later, Ditto opened her eyes, her vision blurry, her head aching terribly and her thoughts all jumbled up. It took her several minutes to focus at all and to realize what was going on. She could barely move at all and looking down, seeing herself tied to a chair, it was no wonder. She was angered at Galnor at first, growling at him dangerously with upset words. But her friend just stood by patiently, patting his giant serpent's head. She calmed down. If he tied her to a chair, she knew him to have a good reason. They spoke much about what had happened. The meeting, her worries of Bree, her chaotic and confused notions that drove her to near suicide, and the letter she had recieved from Tarothin. Galnor had walked over to retrieve the potion vial he had gotten from Juju to keep Ditto asleep. His normal stoically calm appearance left him and he braced the wall with both hands as if to strengthen himself. He told her what he'd been asked to do. And it seemed he had a decission to make as well now. Ditto couldn't promise him that she wouldn't become emotional and try again to get Bree back, yet, he didn't want to have to drug her. She waited with baited breath his decission, the vial so close. He spoke as if reasoning more with himself than with her, and at last Ditto breathed a sigh when he said very clearly, almost angrily, that he was no Armunn servant. The choice would be Ditto's to make.

The talk switched to Tarothin, and some of the things he said upset her. Galnor was angry with him. His actions. His words to Ditto in his last letter. She worried. She didn't want the two to cease becoming friends, or whatever they were. Tarothin respected Galnor at the very least. Galnor's was the voice of honesty and reason when he dealt with both of them. She changed the subject back to what they should do now. She couldn't trust herself, yet she didn't want to be a drugged prisoner either.

In the end they came up with the compromise that suited the situation, and even then, Galnor seemed wary to accept her promise on things. He knew his young friend well. The words "I promise" from Ditto's lips was normally followed by a lie. Finally she convinced him that she would consult with him on any plan she thought of whether she thought it was a sound idea or not, and would not leave his home until either Bree was free or if Tarothin sent word to release her. And he, in return, agreed to inform Cat of Ditto's ... liveliness.
