How have ya been since we saw each other?

I want ta thank ya again for all the heart's treasures ya gave ta me. Did I tell ya that I met your husband, Dealthagar? I canna remember if I had or nau. He is most in love with you. He is a friendly fella. My ribs still hurt thinkin about the hug he gave to welcome me to the family when I told him that we were sisters.

The other reason I write is cause I was thinkin that with certain things that seem ta be happening lately, I should check on some of the people I care about, like family, and warn them of a possible danger. It is most tedious but there is also a question of paranoia encroachin on my trust of others, even those close to me. Like, Cat is Cat, but Cat is also somethin else so I canna trust her at the moment. I wonder if the same ones that have gotten ta Cat may have gotten ta you too. I highly doubt it, considerin what I have learned last evenin.

The subject is the Red People in Trinsic. They are known by a different name but Tarothin refuses to use that name and chooses what I have been calling them as he thinks to call them by their other name would be to acknowledge them as important or some such. They are the ones that dress in all red and have those purty red eyes. Mebe you have seen them?

They sometimes use a contract as some sort of means of enslavin people or at least making them act odd. Cat and Aulbrey signed their contract. Aulbrey did it ta get booze and Cat did it ta get cookies. Now Aulbrey only wants ta drink their booze and Cat only wants ta eat their cookies. I dun think this is the only effect, at least, if it were, that seems like it would be pointless. They tried ta enslave me, but lucky for me they did na offer me anythin I could na say nau to. And then Taro wrote to me not ta sign anythin in any kind of a way. THIS is the warning, I wanted to convey to you as well. Just ta be on the safe side. But, if you should see them, dun mention me. They seem to think I'm something of a friend that will help them and controls...um, a certain somethin.

No need to worry, things are well with me. I'm glad you've met Dealthagar. He is quite a character, to say the least. And trying his best to put a child in my belly. I have no doubt that in the near future I will be wobbling like one of those giant turkeys in the countryside.

It pleases me that you are happy with the return of the those old baubles. I am nothing if not sentimental and had been holding onto that stuff for a long time. I was certain you would return one day. Now, if I could only find that chicken summoning talisman I put aside for you so many years ago...

I know of the people you wrote about in your letter. I have seen them a few times. These contracts you speak of actually remind me of a good friend of mine. I wonder if they have any similarity to the ones Ardashir makes use of when he contracts souls. It speaks to me of demon-related magics, such as enslavement and summoning, the binding of one's will. I find the subject very fascinating. Now that I mention that, there is another who displays considerable talent in that school of magic - Nightshade, my daughter-in-law. She is adept with ensorcelling trinkets and dolls. Perhaps cursing them is a better word, but the effect is the same. She might be able to craft you something that could free Cat.

I appreciate your worry, but there is no need. *there is a break in the flow of script, as if the author was lost in thought for a moment before the writing picks up once more* I doubt they would want to take me against my will even if they could. The only red I favor is that of Dealthagar's hair these days. Although this contract business is very interesting and begs looking into...

Anyway, I hope you are able to restore Cat, I know how much she means to you.

Thank ya very much for the cookies and wine. I let the chicken, who tells me his name is Henry, out of the cage. He killed the neighbor's cat but since then he's been most sweet.

Your letter gave me a happy pause in my thoughts and has me thinking that we should most assuredly get together very soon to discuss old times and future times.
I will bring pie.
