General,

A man we know, Rosar Ashande, has brought a matter to my attention. I am well aware of this man's questionable morals, but this event transpired openly. Apparently, a band of orcs have intruded upon a tavern night and kidnapped a number of female civilians, without any resistance. One of them is a human; the other two are not. The value of the life of the human is questionable, but this still presents a potential opportunity to deal these pig-men a blow, whether her rescue is our goal or not. In any case, orcs must not be allowed to believe that they can perpetrate these acts of chaos without consequence.

These are the coordinates of their fortress. Knowing orcs, it may not remain for long. Rosar has said that others know what has happened, and a ransom may be paid soon, or the orcs may relocate with their hostages before then. I suggest, if we are to act, we do so as quickly as possible.

He described the fortress as small, and having large composition of wood, as is typical for an orcish fort, but stone was also used, hinting that this may be a more permanent fortification. If the hostages are not our concern, we may attempt to burn it and the orcs within, or at least force them into the open field.

Rosar has identified the hostages as Cat Lyxen (a demi-human of indeterminate breeding), Ditto Armunn (a dark elven woman), and the drunkard, Aulbrey. One other, another woman, has attempted a rescue, but he could not say whether she met with any success, and may now be a hostage herself. He noted the presence of at least four orcs, but could not make a determination as to their abilities.

I now leave this matter in your hands and await your direction.

Lieutenant Husam,

I commend you on your initiative on reporting the whereabouts of this orc fort. While I was initially interested in this information in the scope of a simple seek-and-destroy missing for our military, the events of last eve coupled with the information relayed to the Magnate concerning Meegan has turned my attention towards the concept of a rescue effort. While I care little for the drunken woman, and even less for the half-breed and the elf, Meegan is one of our own. Her safe return to our shimmering isle is of the utmost importance, as was mentioned during our meeting.

I should also take this time to mention also that I was most pleased with your and Xandros' military service in regards to orc transgressions onto our soil recently. You two quickly dispatched the first, and would have slain the other disgusting abomination had it not ran off with it's proverbial tail between it's legs. I trust that you will use this same aggression when we rescue Meegan.

I have recently begun to mull over the concept of posting signs warning that any orc seen on Magincia will be killed on sight with no questions asked - but I think this is something for the Magnate, Administrator and I to discuss further. I should think that you and Xandros would have no problem enforcing this type of policy, should it formally come to pass.

Stay vigilant, the time to crush these orcs and release Meegan draws close.
