A stack of unfurled scrolls sat center upon a desk, their words seeming to echo off the cavern ceiling and marble walls.

Barl stared at them in thought, his focus so intent upon them that their words seemed to glow amidst the ethereal plane of black and white in which his mind wandered.

Nightshade's goals had always been ambitious, and though this was not an experiment that he himself would conduct, he understood its value.

In what seemed to be a far away place, a thin, bony hand dragged quill across parchment, transferring thoughts to paper.
