Quietly she waited. A frown creasing her ethereal face Emily stood within the veil. Beyond, on the opposite side, her grandson wept across the bodies of his children and their mother. Ripped open and hollow for all to see, she ached. His pain, quite literally her pain. Just as Merci's troubles, were her troubles. And just as the new addition of life beckoned to her..

She waited and she watched..

Light, brilliant and blinding split the veils at that moment. Unaccustomed to visitors, Emily reflexively put a hand up to shield eyes that while sensitive were never going to cause her any real pain again. Long and lean, Auburn hair lay in folds down the woman's back. Confused, dark brown eyes met Emily's blue ones.

A whisper of disbelief caught in Emily's throat.

"Laramie."

Laramie blinked her eyes multiple times as if trying to adjust to the haze around her.

"Wh... wh... where am I?"

Emily smiled softly. Biting back her own lack of understanding at the situation and the reasoning for the woman in front of her, she lowered her voice and took on a gentle approach as if speaking to a child.

"Beyond the veil." Laramie was of Gypsy blood and Emily hoped this would sink in better than flat out stating... Dead.

Emily watched as Laramie's eyes grew wide, the information seeping through and in. From her vantage point the head of the d'Rue family could see the carnage of her Grandson's home as well as the figure before her.

Taking a breath that was unneeded as she no longer required air, Laramie stared at Emily.

A kaleidoscope of scenes slipped past as Emily tried to begin answering any and all of the girls questions, tentatively stepping around the sticky issues so as not to blast her with information. This one was skiddish and Emily knew it. In the world beyond days had passed. But to Emily and her new guest it was mere moments. Quietly she watched as Laramie stepped closer, avoiding but trying to get a better grip on her surroundings.

Brown eyes gazed at Emily, fear etched in her small face. It was evident the girl had more questions. Why she wasn't asking them was another matter. Looking to push slightly she stated calmly, "Ask dear."

Laramie's mouth snapped shut at the prod but she nodded slightly just the same.

"Who am I?"
