He carries a rolled parchment tied with a black satin ribbon and stamped with an elegant "E" in silver wax.

Dear Lord Valek,

I pray that the winds of fate lean favourably upon your sails as this message reaches ye, and that ye do not think me daft for disturbing ye at sea. I’m afraid I’ve a matter most important to discuss that cannot wait for your return.

It would seem that the term of my squireship under Lord Kaylor McKairin is nearing its end. While the prospects of knighthood set my soul ablaze with fervent enthusiasm, it is not without some trepidation that I take these final steps toward the end of this journey. Lord McKairin has set my knighting to take place on November 9th, at 8 bells past midday. On the two days prior to this ceremony, he has urged me to seek one to attend me during my fasting, meditation, and prayer in its various forms.

While it is not in my nature to seek the help and company of others, he has strongly encouraged me not to spend these two days alone, and so I found myself searching my soul for the name of one who has never given me pause to fear or mistrust. One whose very nature is one of guardianship and vigilance. While there are many whom I deem trustworthy, there is only one whom I feel both compelled to trust, and able to approach for such a weighty favour.

Please do not feel obligated, if ye feel this request is beneath you. I realize fully that ye far outrank me, and in no way do I expect one like yourself to lower his standards to the point of finding himself in servitude to a vanguard or squire.

But I shall await your response with fervent hope. Until next we meet, Lord Valek.

Most Sincerely,
Eclyse Christian
