This might belong in another forum - if so I apologize.

I happen to remember using UO AutoMap when last I played (you know, when Dinosaurs ruled the earth and computers were as large as a city block).

Is UOAM still around? Do people still use it? If not, what is being used in it's place?

Just trying to get all of my "gear" together before I officially return.

I will also say that I will not be return as Cuthbert - I think that his storyline has been tied up both by my own posts when I originally left and some posts from others that occurred after I was gone. I'll be creating a new character. I'll make an account for the new char here, but OOC I will continue to post as Cuth since that is how the old-timers know me.

Thanks in advance for the replies!

UOAM is now defunct, however you can download its successor UOCartographer at: http://www.uocartographer.com/

Last I heard, UOAM was no longer being updated. My own doesn't even work if I let it update. So some places which have been changed since they started updating it won't reflect changes, like Fire Island. Further, it doesn't work with the Enhanced client. It's still a good utility for people in 2d. The Enhanced client has its own mapping system, and is also pretty good.

UO Cartographer is new to me, maybe I'll give it a try. Thanks, Ty.

Fast replies! You guys are awesome. Thanks! Very Happy

Edit: This brings up another interesting point. Are people still using the 2d client, or do people actually like the "enhanced" client now? I've seem some clips and screenshots, and was really impressed with the enhanced client.... as long as you were zoomed out. When you zoomed in it looked kinda crappy. And the paperdoll is REALLY crappy. Keep in mind that I was always a 2d client guy, so if that's still the "way to go" I'm fine with that.

Here's another question - what was the last client/expansion to be sold on disc. Age of Shadows? Samurai Empire? It seems like ML and SA are download-only. I wanted to start off with an older client (on my laptop) then I could install the older version and just upgrade it when I get my new desktop.

Thoughts?

Samurai Empire was the last one I remember seeing in stores. You can download any 2d client and it will patch to full SA though.

As far as EC (Enhanced Client) vs. CC (Classic Client), I haven't really touched the EC very much. You can create some useful macros UOA style with EC but I still prefer CC and UOA.

I like both clients equally, but I tend to play the 2d more. I bounce back and forth by whim. The Enchanced is very nice though and offers a lot of the options you'd get from the newer MMOs on the market. Macros, zooming in and out with the map, full color maps for T maps was a bit thrill for me to see, and you can pick a face/body look for your char.

I know SA works with Vista (yes, I am a PC). Does anyone know if Mondain's Legacy works with Vista?

Mondain's Legacy is just an expansion, which you get just by having an account now. It all works with Vista, including the latest Stygian Abyss. The last cd released was ninth age. I have that and even then, there was a HUGE patch that makes patching from there slow. Also, welcome back. Smile

I'm on Windows 7 and I can run both clients just fine.

Personally, I still prefer two d..but I switch back and forth between both clients.

Sometimes If ind the EC enjoyable.
