Korin turned from the steps of his mothers house, the scroll firmly secured where she would find it. Snow was once again falling in the far north. Korin started his journey on foot enjoying the peace and Quiet of the early morning. Korin knew that if he wanted he could use a rune to get to where he was heading but this time it was the journey more so than the destination that was important to him.
With his mothers wedding having taken place the day before. Korin was now free to focus on something that had haunted him since his return to Stonegate. As Korin walked through the snow covered valley he took the time to look around him. this was home now. And he liked it here. As Korin made his way into the last pass that lead out of the mountians Korin turn giving one last glimps back. He smile and looked up at the grey sky and for a brief moment he thought he saw his grandmothers face in the clouds smiling down on him.
His mind turned to Emily d'Rue what a powerful woman she must have been in life. Korin looked around to make sure he was alone. Then looking back up to the sky he spoke softly. "Grandmother I know you are with me watching." Again he waited as if exspecting a reply. None came so he continued. "Look after them while I am gone, I shall not be long." he smiled knowing that she was there and heard his words. It had given Korin a comfort to know that he had been watched over all these years. Korin could still feel the love that radiated off of his grandmother. His pale face turned a little crimson as a thought crossed his mind. He cocked his head to the side and smiled a little embrassed smile. "I hope you dont watch everything we do grandmother." Korin took a couple steps more before speaking again. "What I am about to do grandmother you may not want to watch, but it has to be done for my peace of mind. Its a pride thing you know." with thoses last words spoken Korin walked out of Stonegate valley. |

Emily knew full what her boy intended to do. It wasn't a secret. He had flat out said it many many times if anyone was listening. He was right, the fact that he had set out on this journey didn't thrill her. But in the end he was his own man now and he would have to make his own decisions. Sometimes the best thing you can do for those you love is be there to pick up the pieces and lend an ear when it's needed. Korin wouldn't end up in pieces but he would certainly need the ear. No matter what that was what she would do. Emily smiled knowing that she had gotten her point across to at least one of her family members. Once again, the wind began to swirl around the lone figure as she gave her silent response making sure he knew she was there. That she always would be. |

Part II
Three days later
Korin Lowered his naked body into the tub. The thick dark liquid surrounding him. Holding his hair up he sank down as low as he dared. Then used his hand to apply the dye to his face. He stood up and stepped out of the tub. standing beside the pool of clear water he waited for the dye to dry.
The mirror he had brought was small but the dark face that was looking back at him looked like most drow males he had seen in his life. He used the mirror to check the parts of his body he could not see. Finally happy with his appearance her hid his human clothing and put on the loin cloth and belt.
Korin took a deep breath before stepping out from his hiding spot and making his way to the entrance. "Let the hunt begin." |
