Maia sat on the dirt floor in the confines of her home basement. A stone's throw from the Darkhaven Manor. Nothing had been moved in just yet. How strange the threads of Fate were. Weaving here and there in the Tapestry of Life...and Unlife.

She recalled the past. She remembered a dark man offering a gift to her but she had to go with him to get it. Foolish. She thought. But she was young and gullible. She took the man's hand. "What's your name?" She asked him.
"Marius" The name echoed in the emptiness causing her to jump as the memory seemed to suddenly play itself out before her.

"What is your name?" He asked in a soft tone.
"Maia" She answered as they went up to a building that looked quite upscale. Upon crossing the threshold, however, everything changed. He held her firm in his grasp. "What...what are you doing? Let me go!" She witnessed her pitiful struggle as though from a stranger's eyes.

"You took my offer and now I will give you a great gift of power." He bent down and yanked her hair back, driving his fangs deep.

Maia shook her head and tried to clear her thoughts of the horrid night...but it continued. She was watching her death. And then the rebirth...Somewhere, something had snapped within Maia's mind. She had become a Cappadocian not by choice. She was naive, foolish for taking the hand of a vampire. But how was she to know?

The memory played out and suddenly switched around to the old tavern where he kept her like a wretched hound dog in the basement. She heard the people up there. She thought. She stared at the coffins that surrounded her. The time down there had further sent her mind away to a dark place. Then the people came down to gawk at her. She watched as she ran them off back upstairs babbling and yelling like a ravenous beast.

She overheard Marius say she was going to be used as an example. She wouldn't die like this. So during the chaos that went in the night, Maia had made an escape. She did not know where she'd go but she did not care at that time. Time was her friend now. She was free.

Freedom. She smiled as her memories shifted to her learning of the world, and oddly enough, Marius was destroyed by one of his own. She saw her dream go from a field to the manor house suddenly and for no reason. It had been years since she'd dare go near the place out of fear.

Ronin had a heated arguement with Marius over the direction the clan was going in. Marius turned his back on Ronin and walked away. It was as though she were there flying above them. Maia stumbled back and hit the wall of her home solidly as she witnessed Ronin diablerizing Marius then concealing the remnants of the carcass beneath the manor.

Then everything faded to Ian confronting Ronin....Ian then taking the remnants of Marius out in the sun to disintegrate.
Maia shuddered. How could they?

Later she had a run-in with Ronin. She dared not tell him she knew the crime he had committed. But every time she looked upon Ronin, she did not see Ronin. She saw Marius. Her mind dove deeper into that dark abyss. Fear and hate mixing and swirling until all she could do was draw what she saw. Maia knew she wasn't normal. She was far from it but glad.

Then the memory faded to reveal the cold stone of her home. She took a deep breath and went upstairs. Kelly had been kind to her. But Kelly was not normal either. She was different. Maia sensed a kinship in her. The two shared a secret friendship. Ian became the new Prince of the clan and it seemed the others followed Ronin into torpor.

Then her vision swirled. She stood braced and rigid as though she'd seen death itself. She did...one by the name Darrien Church. She stiffened as she saw many under his powerful fist. Her eyes widened in terror as she saw him order atrocities done to a man and left for dead...she saw someone pull the deformed man through a gate. Her vision suddenly shifted to another land...Where a familiar figure was now bent helping the injured man.

Maia gasped, her chest heaved. Her vision then became surrounded by abyssal darkness swirling, and a black skull emerged in the middle, then a flash of someone's hand being branded with the emblem of the skull with a woman's scream echoing through the darkness...Maia jumped and yelled as the vision faded. "NO!"

She ran out into the night a terrified mess. Damn her visions!...She'd not tell a soul, but she needed to calm her nerves.
Drawing her shroud tight to hide her face, Maia went to Luna to watch people.

Maia walked the sandstone walkway of Luna after her nerves had sufficiently calmed. After she had managed to stealth two full laps around the city before she decided to walk to the old home north of Luna. She had been told it was in new hands now. She wanted to see, if, by chance... Chance. She smirked at the word.

She moved silently toward the home and saw on the lawn a variety of goods and supplies safely secured. But she saw nor heard a soul. They must be sleeping. She thought as she walked about the chests and things before taking her leave.

Perhaps one day I will meet them. She smiled timidly and decided to hide out in Luna again.
