A sealed parchment is left for Alaundril in his office at the Double Dagger safehouse.
Shadowmancer,
I witnessed something last night of which I feel I must inform you.
I was observing Umbra from the shadows when I came upon the Lich’s orc fort. A large force of Moonglow Militia were there. At first I thought I was witnessing the Humanists exacting retribution upon the orc home for the earlier orc invasion of Verity Isle. Sadly, this was not the case.
It seems our new “allies” were there to pay a ransom to the orcs. Needless to say, I was most disappointed. They paid to get their mayor back when they had a force nearly equal to that of the orcs. They would rather pay blood money than fight, Shadowmancer, and that makes their resolve suspect.
I advise caution if we make battle plans that involve us counting on the Moonglow Militia to play a crucial role. They apparently do not have much faith in thier own military might--we would do well not to place much faith in it ourselves.
I leave it to your discretion to inform the Wolf King of this or not.

Alaundril tried his best to keep his trips here a minimum, but he found Kinn's report the next morning, when Alaundril was making his way through to pick up some supplies and see how his quiet tavern was doing this evening. He read it over, a grin crossing his face. He sat down and began penning a reply:
Mr. K:
Quite an interesting report you have left me. The Moonglowian's actions do not surprise me in the least. They are as fickle as all Humans tend to be. Never have I considered them an ally or ever would I rely on any of their military. I had the pleasure of taking a trip to their city earlier last evening. Most likely the Mayor was taken because of the stomping they received from the mass of people that came to kick them out of the place. I felt ill there, defending the Humanists. But I was there hone my skills on the Orc soldiers, not the Moonglowians. As of late, their military has been faltering, and I'm sure we are not the only ones to notice this. These Orcs have been attacking systematically, but their tactics seem hardly organized. I have seen their Fort near Umbra and that is definitely their base of operations. Luckly, the set up of Stonegate is extremely defensible. I've already begun scouting the outlying area and planning, just in case.
I don't want any of our division in Moonglow. If the Orcs are spotted off the island then we can engage them, but I won't defend Humanist pigs. Let them fight their own battles. They are opportunists and we're way out of their element. Their inaction very well could have been out of good judgment, considering the terrain and location of the Orc fort.
Yours in Shadow,
Mr. A
Alaundril left it for in the proper place for Kinn to find on his way through and left for Stonegate with a few supplies packed in his bag. |
