Quote:
To the Rulers of Greater Sosaria,

The Host of Oblivion’s Faithful greet thee.

The Lich Lord Darrien Church, High-Priest of Oblivion, Keeper of the Temple, Guardian of the Mirror of Morgaz, Holder of the book of Nizar, Scion of the Stygian Empire, heir to the throne of Azalin…

Having tirelessly labored for the Sacred Convergence, so that the impurities of this realm may be cleansed poses to you the following orders, to be carried out by your respective principalities. Should the following diktats be realized in full by your combined efforts you shall suffer no more aggression from The Lich Lord.

Diktat the first…

All members of the House Skyfire yet still living are to be executed at once, their heads struck from their bodies.

Diktat the second…

All members of the House M’real yet still living are to be executed at once, their heads struck from their bodies.

Diktat the third…

The Kingdom of Sanctus is to be dismantled, the Castle Blackguard is to be demolished. All non-command or Sanctan nobility may be permitted to retreat to Luna or a respective allied city.

Diktat the fourth…

The Realm of Umbra is asked to verify these diktats have been carried out to The Lich Lord’s satisfaction. If this is done, they are to take as their reward what remains of the Sanctan nation.

Exhortation…

If these demands are not met in full within fourteen days, to the pleasure of the Lich Lord a small articulation of the powers of the Convergence shall be unleashed upon a single Sosarian city, laying it to waste.

Etheng.

"And why should we help you? You've sided with the those disgusting Britannians more than once, Moonglow. You've been patsy to the King's ploys for years. What could possibly move this august body to accept you as a fellow and treat with your government as equals?"

Anon spoke with a nasal inflection, a haughty whine in the back of his tone moreso than most of his brethren. Was this because of his advanced age, or perhaps an alchemical mishap during an earlier part of his life, GreyPawn wondered. The Council of Mages had just convened, and the topic of succession was a fresh one. One of the perks of being aligned with the perceived "lesser" of the two factions of light was undoubtedly the access to arcane wisdom concealed in the Council vaults. It was this knowledge, particularly the handful of global-level invocations, that the Mayor so desperately wanted access to.

"It was Moonglow that lead the first fight against the assembled forces of the Regency, was it not?" GreyPawn spoke in hushed tones, a practice used to bring introspection to bear on a potentially hostile audience. "It was Moonglow who has maintained the strongest vigil against the darkness, which crept in to supplant even the government here in Magincia with the hated Ne'Sveti. It was Moonglow that laid waste Caina, survived multiple schisms and returned stronger than ever." At this, a contingent of necromancers hissed under their breath, before being silenced by a dismissive wave of the 1st Seat's hand.

But that, that was an age ago.

Ruminations on the past had become a greater affliction to the Mayor in his advanced age. Retirement, while refreshing, remained a deep quietude of nostalgia and forced recollection. He missed it now. Things today, so much more complicated. Likely why he was having such damnable trouble finding the text in the scriptorium. Tome of Making, no... Secret History of Moonglow... no, that isn't it. Exorcism Rituals for the Virtuous - no, but that's definite bedtime reading for later. The Archmage tucks the mouldy grimoire under his arm and continues riffling through a lockbox of powerful arcane texts.

"Ahh, here it is." GreyPawn lifts the heavy tome from the bottom of the ornate box and slumps it on his reading stand before dusting the leather-bound jacket. The Deliberative of the Bridge Builder. By Wieland of Paws. "You know, that somewhat makes sense. Wieland always claimed to be a Builder magi, but everyone always dismissed that as senior lunacy or eccentricity. If he was in fact a global caster, that could explain the prediliction for towers. Huh." GreyPawn ran his fingers through his prickly goatee for a bit, nodding to himself briefly before realizing he had just been talking to himself. Again.

Flipping through the tome past the Maledictions, he comes upon the spell in particular he'd been seeking. "Domegnus Maleficarum Arma", a spell forbidden since the Verity inception of the Festival of Finneas the Goatherd. Well, it and a whole slew of others. "Rel Vas In Uus Dium Ylem", words spoken over a dead sparrow, a lump of consecrated stones, and water drawn from the Shrine of Honesty. Easy enough reagents, he muses. The last remaining threat from Oblivion had dispatched a warning to all cities that, barring compliance, an attack would be made. Luckily, this spurred the Archmage to recall the existence of this particular cantrip.

No one will comply with the Lich Lord's request, and he will certainly attack - and most certainly a city will suffer. But. It will not be mine.

Walking slowly but surely to the nighttime roof of the Moonglow Town Council Headquarters, the seasoned wizard stood wide-armed at the center of the structure, staff in hand and arms spread as far apart as possible - in hopes of grasping the tenous threads of raw mana this endeavor was to require. First, the opening entreaty to the ether.

"I claim now the Winds of the north, the Waters of the east, the Earth of the West and the Fire of the South. To me and but to me I commend the energies of the Occult Fundus - open now the way to the power I seek. I petition the Bearer of Keys and the Dweller on the Threshold to open my way, clear my path, straighten my road on the course I must tread."

A vast, dark gray stormcloud swirls overhead, darkening the skies above Verity and Dagger Isles. A silence descends upon the city of Moonglow, and every living thing, from the wolves in the southern forest to the sheep farmers at the student hostel seems to pause for a moment, short a single breath as, for but a moment in time, every last iota of mana and life energy from the land is hurled abruptly towards the tower.

Now to channel the energy into usable form. A holding place, in between space where none can see the mysteries as they are woven from whole cloth of delicate threads that tie us all.

"Horothotai morinoar! Zethematix rev atis ibrimarr! Schepestiva tuu vakar inai repa il gaffkrena emenor! Rel Vas, In Vas, Dium Vas, Mani Vas, Ylem In Uus, Ort Bet, An Jux Mani. Rel Vas In Uus Dium Ylem!"

A towering mass of brilliant blue and white light envelops the dark stone structure, flecked and brushed with glinting strands of fate, adjusted through force of will to a benevolent end. Now, the invocation.

"I invoke the Bridge Builder. I call forth the magics of the wonder-work, Maker of Castle and Brother to Stone Given Shape and Form. Hear me, Lord Battlement of Arch and Scale, Hewer of Mountain and Harbinger of The Construct. In humble supplication to the power of that that lasts and endures, I induce you to fashion a great barrier to stand between my people and evil. Create for those within the confines of the holy city of Moonglow an aegis against any malediction. To this end, I commit to you these energies, and this, my force of will and pure intent."

A slow drain felt in the pocket of space in between space where the strength of an Archmage and his people is kept - and then a complete absence... the snapping close of a space suddenly rendered null. In the ebon sky high above the tower, past the clouds, the faintest cyan outline, as if a constellation had been drawn. A brick being laid upon another brick. And then another. Then two, then five, then twelve, until the sight fills the entire night sky, gently ending at the horizon before fading from view.

"My gratitude." is the last thing GreyPawn mutters before collapsing backwards unconscious, glowing staff clattering to the cold stone roof before going dim.

Kal'iksix frowned upon hearing this recent announcement from one of her many slaves as she patted her ever growing abdomen. "Easy my son, the Lich Lord will regret not including us in his so-called diktats. We will sit back and watch as their punishment for not including us." Kal'iksix ordered the slave to report to The Boss at once with this message and her added note to the bottom, " Go have some fun and be sure to silence this slave for good." Kal'iksix laughed and began her new routine of walking through her new Drow Quarter area of Umbra.

Ceinwyn read the announcement aloud to the Umbrans gathered.

"I have no idea why he is including us in this, but hey, all he is asking us to do is verify these things were carried out. He isn't actually asking us to DO them.. hmm. Though we do share a common enemy, and Sanctus has been a thorn in our sides for far too long."

With that, scouts were dispatched with orders.

So Darrien, I wonder what army you have to back you this time...

Ceinwyn would have shrugged the thing off as was her custom when it concerned the lich. Would have torn the poster down as if it was a Sanctan engagement announcement. But she knew one hard, cold truth. Umbra would be blamed for any ill that happened, anyway.

So why not at least share some of the fun?

A bit of morning reading that brought a mirthful smile, not because she mocked the Lich for she knew well he would indeed do as he predicted.

It was her knowledge in the simple fact that they were all damned if they did and damned if they didnt. Knowing well the goals of the cult that worshipped Oblivion long ago, to stop at the death of a few Skyfires and Mreals was surely ridiculous.

Yet she raised a vial of blood high into the air to toast him, before downing it..

Heres to hoping they follow your orders Darrien, its the only way they will learn...

She laughed at the thought of Darrien sticking to his word and actually honoring what he had said..

While the rest of the world prepared to deal with the immediate threat, Barl De'Abreago worked on what would come next. When time didn't matter, the bigger picture was more important, and in this case, Barl sought the anchor - and he was close.

It started years long past, As Norture, upon a throne, freely revealed unto Barl every detail of the prophet's history that was known to the ruler of the Order.

In more recent years, though years ago still, Church did speak directly to Barl himself, and of Darrien did the lichdrow learn. Upon his history was then learned his mind.

And in days past now, as Ciara spoke to Barl and Shade, did Barl learn the missing pieces that would lead him to the heart of Darrien's Immortality.

Barl glanced from Darrien's letter to the people upon the table, to the map that rested next to it. In dark circles was every possible location, leaving no inclination unturned. But there was one in particular, one place upon a shield that screamed in Darrien's own voice into his mind.

This was a place where, If the lichdrow's suspicions were correct, Church had spent a great deal of time - and recently. A mark of all his vanity, so deviously hidden where no one might suspect.

Tonight Barl woudl venture to this place, and if that which was sacred to Darrien was present, Barl would find it.

Ariana looked at the scroll with an arched eyebrow. "This does present a rather annoying predicament, doesn't it? " she said softly, resting her hand on the swell of her belly. "I do nay believe it would be in my best interest to 'ave my belly split open in their efforts to remove ye." She looked down with a slight smirk as the child moved inside her as if uncomfortable by the tone of her voice. "Well my young Skyfire... you had best hurry up and get here. As for me... " she tossed her hair with a gentle sigh, "... I mus' say I am growin' tired o' bein' cooped up so much. You haven't even been born yet an' ye are already a thorn in my side." She smirked as her eyes narrowed slightly as the baby placed a firm kick on her ribs.

Kelly read the letter and shook her head. Foolish liches. Always power hungry. Always the same ends. She walked the streets of their little piece of Britain. Such a senseless waste of life and blood. Ahh but a lich doesn't care for the living like we do. A smile slowly grew as she summoned her mount. "You. Boy. I have a job for you." Kelly singled out a young man and he swiftly took her hand and mounted up behind her. Together they rode off for the Cappadocian headquarters.
Once there, Kelly escorted the young man into the office and motioned him to sit while she grabbed pen, ink and scroll.

To all those of our Alliance in the Armies of Darkness,

It has come time for all allied to meet up and discuss this newest threat. We shall convene at the Cappadocian Armory. Send word when a good time of evening would be.

Kelly Darkhaven
Regens Domina of the Cappadocians

Kelly pens several scrolls and closes them with the Cappadocian seal
"Deliver these to Matron Kal'iksix and her House, The Doomed Patrol, and Chaotic Justice post haste." She hands the scrolls to the young man as well as a pouch of coins.
