He walked along the roads in Nujel'm, looking around with a smile.
"I like this place." he said to himself. He came to the local tavern and stepped inside, greeted by the barkeeper, he ordered a small glass of wine, found a seat and sat sipping his drink.

After finishing his drink he had rented a room at the local inn, and began hiring men to transfer his instruments of experimentation from his boat to his room. When all was done, a lab-like setting greeted all who entered. The Sphinx finally shut the door and locked it, beginning to experiment with the various chemicals and foreign substances he had brought with him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

His dark eyes ran across the small sphere that sat infront of him, tiny vains ran along the outside of it ball-size sphere, coursing with a reddish liquid. The Sphinx tossed it up in the air and it began to float.
The Sphinx whispered his orders to it and the sphere became encased in shadow, the shadow shifting to form a large man-form. "Go, my pet... do what you must."

The Shadow stalked the streets of Nujel'm the following nights.

Not too awfully long after he sent his creation to stalk the streets of Nujel'm, The Sphinx heard of it's ruler. He was intrigued.

He rented out a room with a view of the palace... but after awhile he grew impatient and simply stood outside the palace of Nujel'm, watching for the Queen. After hours of standing and waiting, he wrote up a quick note and left it under the door to the Palace, hoping the Queen or one of her servants would find it.
The note read:

"I like your city, it reminds me of home.
I would like to meet with you, my Queen.
Until I find you, walk your streets with care.

In her library the Queen receives the short note, the guard telling her that it was from the strange man that lingers outside the palace gates.

Slowly reading the script she wonders what harm could there be to meet with such a man. Uncertain of what if anything is meant by "walking the streets with care.." she awaits for her husband to return to seek out his opinion upon this matter.

Musing, she taps the edge of the note on her small chin then tells the guard special instructions for the man and soon-to-be guest. He will occupy one of the guest rooms to await an audience with her. Let him be watched but not to the point he will notice. He may have free regin within the palace, grounds and Empire, except where the Queen's family will be. Until Lord Rufus and the Queen decide what to do on this matter, he will be a guarded guest of the Empire.

Pleased with her decision for now, she watches the guard go and do her bidding.

An hour or so after the guard had greeted him with the message from the Queen, which he had received with a very pleased grin, the Sphinx had ordered guards to watch his room. He brought only the bare necessities with him, leaving his experiments behind.

"Guard.." said the Sphinx as the man who had lead him here was about to leave, "..tell the Queen I am pleased she has accepted me as her guest... and that I would like to meet her in person soon." with a soft smile the Sphinx looked to the guard, wondering whether he would comply. The guard quickly nodded and bowed out of the room.

The Sphinx waited in his room for the Queen to come, and orders his shadow-creature to wait at the inn for further instructions.
