"More to the front!! We've got daemons incoming!!"

"The dark wisps are pressing from behind, and the fallen warriors are coming in from the east!!"

"Essences are pouring out of the north gate, headed right this way! I don't know if we can hold off that many!"

"Healer! I need a healer! I... I don't know... if I...---"

"Get your damn dragon out of the way!!!"

These are the sounds you hear as you step through the rift. An ongoing battle, between the forces that have been drawn into this place in time. It was absolute chaos. Chaos that Vaen has never seen before.

**********

Vaen sat in the Captain's Office, having fallen asleep in his chair the night before. Rubbing his eyes, he sat upward and looked down at the table at his battle plans. Making a few minor adjustments to them, he rolled the plans up and stuck them in his pouch. Another long day of fighting lay ahead of him.

Walking towards the door, he reached to open it, but it opened quickly before he placed his hand on it. Looking upward, he saw his old friend Mave, who had apparently not got much sleep himself.

"Are you ready, my friend?" Mave asked.

Vaen sighed softly, and then nodded. "Ready as I'll ever be."

Mave patted Vaen on the shoulder and grinned. "Another day of fighting awaits us. Let us move."

Vaen nodded slowly, and stepped out of his office into the bright sun. The warm air grazed his skin as he stepped outside, as the birds in the trees sang their peaceful songs to one another. The trees, scattered all around Vaen's house, were standing tall; standing proud. A light wind ruffled the leaves, and blew the few strands of hair in Vaen's face aside.

The island of Moonglow held a treasured elegance that could not be contested. And yet, in the center of all this beauty and peace, lies the gateway to hell.

Inside alternate Moonglow through the rift, the brave defenders of Britannia and the vile creatures of the alternate world continued the bloody battle with no end in sight. Near the southern gate, Spawn stood with his bokuto in hand with his armor and uniform burned and bloody.

"It's no good! We're going to die out here!" said a random voice coming from behind Spawn. Meanwhile, the dark wisps, fallen warriors and the fetrid essences were slowly approaching the gate.

"We are not going to run! We are going to fight!" Spawn shouted. "If we're going to die today... we are going to take as many of these evil beings with us before we do!" Spawn continued raising his bokuto into the air.

"Aye! Let's destroy them all!" said another voice from behind Spawn. The people around him prepared their spells, bows and other weapons waiting for the swarm of the creatures to get closer.

"For Moonglow!" Spawn shouted as he began to run towards the monsters. The other fighters shouted as loud as they could running behind Spawn. "Vas Ort Flam! Kal Vas Flam!" Spawn said casting an explosion and a flamestrike at the closet creature that was a dark wisp. Spawn along with the other fighters and the creatures began another battle within the rift.

*************************************************************
An hour before...

Spawn stood on the porch of his Sanctus manor glancing at the scene in front of him. He pondered the recent events with the blackrock detector and the rift it created. Since the news that the device would be finished being constructed, Spawn knew that nothing but bad things would come from it and he was right. He then glanced over to building that neighbored his manor which was the Castle Blackgard, home of the Order of Sanctus.

"So Talon... my brother... you and the Protectorate shall mock Moonglow instead of helping them?" Spawn said to himself glancing up at the sky above him. "So be it... hide in your castle.. I shall do what I must to protect Moonglow and it's people even if it means my life". continued Spawn as he walked into his manor. Inside his office, he put on his armor and weapons preparing himself to go back into the hell that waited within the rift.

Spawn left his Sanctus manor and headed to Moonglow. When he entered the city, Spawn made his way through the crowd of people who were preparing to enter the rift. He glanced at the rift itself and the people who were coming out heavily wounded from the creatures. ITge the grass patch where the detector used to be looked like a hospice at this point. Some of the fighters were carrying out their motionless friends. There were shouts for help as more injured people came out of the rift.

Slowly walking towards the rift, Spawn continued to glance around him at the random people aiding to their wounds and the wounds of others.

"Evil! Terrible evil!" said a man laying on the grass holding his wounds. Spawn stood just a few inches from the rift as he unsheathed his bokuto. He stared at the gate that led into the alternate world and possibly his death.

"Tika.. I love you" Spawn said to himself as he walked into the rift, the doorway to evil and terror.

Vaen smiled as he walked hand in hand with Brianha down the road towards Britain. The day was bright, and to each side of them, the grass wavered slightly in the delicate wind that blew upon them. The birds flew gracefully overhead, singing their songs to one another.

Brianha squeezed his hand gently, and Vaen looked towards her, smiling. She put her hand to her stomach, and whispered softly. "Vaen, I have to tell you something."

He smiled in return, and tilted his head. "What is it, my love?"

She turned to him, and let go of his hand. Biting down on her lower lip, she looked down and laughed slightly. Lifting her head and smiling at him, she opened her mouth, and....

{high pitched} UUUUUUUAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!

Vaen awoke sharply, reaching for his kryss and looking frantically around. The wraith figure, known as Dhazrail, moved back wards to the other side of the Den. Sighing heavily, Vaen slowly caught his breath. His pleasant dreams had been interrupted by the shrieking of this figure. He sheathed his kryss, and began rubbing his face, attempting to aid his return to full consciousness.

Rhiannon giggled from afar, as a robed figure known as George was chasing her about. He almost got up and attacked this George creature, but he quickly realized that they were jesting about.

Phyrra and Vargus sat next to each other, whispering. Phyrra occasionally let out a soft giggle, but quickly hushed herself to hear more of Vargus' words.

Vaen looked down at the table and wiped it clean of the drool he left there while he slept. Sighing softly, he said to himself, "Naps over, I suppose."

"Vaen!!" Phyrra called, smiling to him. But he paid little attention to her. He knew that these moments of happiness were important to her. They were important to all of them. Therefor, he would take up the night shift in Alternate Moonglow.

"Have a good night, everyone!" he said with a smile. Nodding quickly, he exited the Den of Sin. The festivities continued without him, as he heard more laughter and running about as he exited the tavern.

Reaching behind him and adjusting his totem back to his head, he took a deep breath. Nodding once to himself, he recalled away, to assume the night shift in Hell.

Looking down at the mage lying in front of her, she couldn't help but feel sad for him. Another soul that had fallen to the evil inside the rift. She quickly whispered a small incantation and watched as he slowly opened his eyes and looked up to her. He slowly took in his surroundings, thanking her and began gathering his belongings before he headed back into the rift again. She shook her head as she watched him walk off. Were they all brave or just foolish? She couldn't decide.

Her head spun a little as she saw the line of people who had fallen inside the rift and been carried out. Brave fools, she thought. What good was it at this point? They had been fighting for days. Her head began to ache again as she worked to quickly get them up and on their way again. Each one mumbling their thanks before they slowly walked back inside.

She wished they could just close it, but she knew after listening to Azunda the other night it wasn't a wise idea. At least now, the creatures inside were staying in there. If they tried to close it, they could risk them pouring out into the city of Moonglow and destroying it like they had the Moonglow that seemed to be stuck in time. The whole city could be destroyed just like Maginicia. They had to think of something quick though. There was no guarantee that continuing to fight would stop it. It almost seemed futile at this point. Where was this getting them?

She quickly dismissed these thoughts and continued to concentrate on those that had fallen trying to ignore the headache that was quickly getting worse. Looking up at the gate again, she couldn't help but feel she should be doing more. She looked around at the others who were helping those that had fallen and then back to the rift. Picking up her armor she slowly walked towards it and inside to the hell that awaited her. She didn't care at this point what happened to her, but only that she help save the city. If that was even possible at this point.

The fighting continued beyond the rift inside the alternate Moonglow for day and night. No matter how hard the people fought off the creatures, they were met with another full force of dark wisps, fetid essences, fallen warriors and deamon berserkers. No matter how many creatures were in their path, the brave fighters never gave up and continued to fight with their all.

Near the rift leading back to the normal Moonglow, the fighers were becoming outnumbered by the increasing amount of creatures from all directions. The tamers watched helplessly as their proud animals were being slain by the vile monsters. One by one, the fighters were defeated forcing to retreat towards the rift. The archers continued to fire their arrows and the mages continued casted their spells. The creatures that fell were quickly replaced by another.

While the main group of tbe fighters were at the rift, a few fighters were in battle in the northern part of the alternate Moonglow. One of the fighters was Spawn who was fighting a few dark wisps. With his bokuto and magic spells, he successfully vanquished the evil wisps watching them fall to the ground. Spawn glanced around him at the other fighters who were also successful in defeating the creatures. It seemed it was quiet in the north where they were.

"D...D...Deamon berserkers!" shouted one of the fighters pointing towards the alchemist shop behind Spawn. The fighters readied their weapons as Spawn glanced over his shoulder at the two deamon berserkers approaching him.

"I do not fear you vile deamons!" Spawn said. He then began to cast explosions and flame strikes at the deamon berserkers. The deamons continued to move towards Spawn and the fighters as the spells hit them but did no visible damage. Suddenly, a fallen warrior quickly flew towards Spawn's left side delievering a blow. Spawn fell off his mount upon being struck by the fallen warrior. A few of the fighters came to Spawn's aid and began to engage the fallen warrior.

"Here they come again!" shouted another fighter pointing towards the northwestern area where more creatures began to appear.

"Damn! Withdraw south to the rift!" Spawn shouted as he quickly returned to his mount. He and the other warriors began to make their way down the street towards the rift to join the main group.

"There's more of them! We're trapped!" said another one of the fighters. Spawn glanced in the direction of the rift only to see their way was blocked by more dark wisps, fallen warriors and fetid essences. He then glanced towards where they were just fighting as the deamon breserkers as well as more of the other creatures were moving towards him and the other fighters.

"Well this keeps getting better..." Spawn said with a sigh. He suddenly prepared his bokuto and spells again waiting for the swarm of creatures from both directions. The other fighters did the same in readying their weapons preparing to attack. After a few moments, Spawn and the fighters began another battle against the overwhelming creatures inside alternate Moonglow.

With a resounding growl, the bear lifted slightly to his hind legs, swatting at a dark wisp with his massive forepaws. Mounted on his back, Mave pulled his blade out of the chest of one of the flying warriors, his hatchet in the other hand already swinging towards the second wisp closing from the other side...

As the wisps fell, he spared a moment to glance around the mirror city of Moonglow. At first he looked only for Alessandra in the turmoil. He had asked her to stay out of the portal and away from Moonglow for her safety, but he knew the woman, knew that it would only be a matter of time before she grew impatient and ventured in. Not seeing her, he patted the bear on the flank and looked to the skies, checking how Belegohtar fared. Looking to the west end, he saw the shape of the beast, dipping in and out of the attackers, fighting as he had been asked. Mave knew that they could take down more of the monsters seperate than if they fought together, but still he could see no end to the tide.

Not only did one come to replace each one fallen, but they all fought with renewed vigor, as if to them, it was still the first wave of the battle. Shaking his head, he turned the bear towards the nearest group of fighters that were hard pressed. With a roar, the animal made quick work of the ground between them and the enemy.

Must protect the city... protect the people... was the last thought he had before shouting "FOR HONOR" and plunging back into the fight.
