Thrax sent his ablest and fleetest courier to deliver this letter to King Sid.

"Your Majesty,

Greetings,

I am sorry our face to face meetings have not been easily arranged, and that correspondence of this sort has been all we have able to accomplish. I would like to tell you in person what I now shall tell you, for you may not believe it otherwise.

An incident in Yew today convinced me that I have had my head in the clouds for too long. I have been living the dream that I could truly be the kind of fatherly figure to lead my fellow citizens into total freedom; that they would care for me, as I do for them. Sadly, dreams are hopelessly intangible and seldom based on fact or reality. Thus it has been with my dream.

In effect, it means that I will dissolve the Commonwealth immediately. The infrastructure was not in place, nor any parliamentary members elected other than myself, so it will be simple. Some of the people may be disappointed, some will not, but given time, they will forget all about it.

I have established my homeland as the Township of Alderglen. I will cede enough portions from the old barony to you as a gift and some recompense for your troubles. The Township shall be independent but I will certainly wish to trade with Yew and Minoc as well.

In time I may explain my sudden change of heart, but for now, please know that what I write here is my final decision. I am no longer in competition with you for the hearts and minds of my fellow Yewians. They are yours to rule as you will with no further interference from me or mine.

My brother, however, may have other ideas. His name is Thraxas and he is an identical twin. He may approach you to help in the governance of your holdings. I won't speak of him or for him, good or ill.

Best Regards,

Thraxanduril
Archon of Alderglen"

I wish you luck in you future endeavers and I am pleased you are establishing a new township.... Alderglen sounds like a wonderfull place, and yes of course trade is always welcome as you are, maybe when you get everything set up the way you want it,we could meet again over a beverage and discuss any possible needs that the Kingdom could aid you in.

King of Yew

A courier delivers another letter:

"Your Majesty,

Greetings,

I would be honored to share your company and a glass or two of fine Yew wine.

I am grateful you have repealed the bounty, and have apparently forgiven my indiscreet, offensive, and, to some extent, lawless conduct of the recent past. Compassion, too, is a kingly virtue.

I am also grateful you have elected to acknowledge the right of the township of Alderglen to exist. You are welcome there at any time. Trade would be beneficial to both of us, no doubt.

When we meet I will bring with me a document that shall officially cede the greater portion of my former Barony to you, that I once claimed. I have neither the means, time, nor desire to govern, defend, or utilize it. It is rich in lumber and hide resources. I know it will aid Yew.

I look forward to our meeting.

My best to you and yours,

Thraxanduril"
