Good show. |

Question about Werewolves. Usually its a human that turns into a ww because he caught the disease from some other ww. What happens if a ww bites an animal? Could there be were rabbits? or were hinds? Usually normal animals that sometimes go berserck and attack anything. Like blackrock infected or something. I think a pet Cu sidhe would make an excellent pet werewolf. _________________

I would imagine that it is possible. And it could lead up to some interesting possibilities. Hmmm... go with it. Would you like to get infected? _________________ "Always speak the Truth even if it leads to your death." - Lord Godfrey |

well, it is community lore that at one time Poet was affected by a curse that turned him into a were bear.
I just never did much with it, after the emergence of the lycans. I did not want to step on anyone's toes. _________________ "He's been fired from the Shrimp Boat?" -- Charlaine Harris "Living Dead In Dallas." |

Technically, I would say That if a werewolf were to bite a rabbit, the rabbit would die. I would personally roleplay that since werewolves are at least partially human, the disease carries over but wouldn't cross species.
However:
Remember that there is a difference between werewolf and lycanthrope. We call ourselves lycans, we who play werewolves, because all werewolves are indeed lycans. But not all lycans are werewolves. You can have any sort of were animal.
Wikipedia says:
Lycanthropy is the ability or power of a human being to undergo transformation into an animal. The term comes from Greek lykánthropos (λυκάνθρωπος): λύκος, lýkos ("wolf") + άνθρωπος, ánthrōpos ("man") (Rose, 230). The word can also be used transitively, referring to the act of transforming someone else into an animal, or Lycanthrope.
To get to the point, lycans are almost always associated with werewolves, but are not exclusively werewolves. So my answer to your question is, would something else turn if a werewolf bit it? I would say no. But thats not to say you couldn't have an animal become a were-animal some other way. _________________ "You see I can not be forsaken, because I'm not the only one. Thomas Hunter wrote: | Again.. I am fairly new at roleplaying. So please be a little patient. I have some questions about roleplaying Lycan...
1. Is there a cure? If so, does that only work before human life is taken?
2. What are the repurcussions of not getting cured if I can control my hunger and not feed on human flesh? Is it possible to control the animal instincts, or do I totally lose control when I shift?
Thanks for helping out a newbie... |
I role play that my character Myrddin, the war master of umbra, is a lycan and I generally follow these guidelines:
1.) IF there is a cure, it is highly complex and it is not a simple one. It is also seen as a threat by those lycans who are proud (myself for example), and not taken lightly.
2) As Merci stated, She and I use potions to sort of curb our transformations. It is up to the role player, some, such as the melgairs of umbra more so embrace their lycan-ism and turn quite often. I myself however, like to role play that Myrddin is proud to be lycan, and likes the strength it grants him, but tries to stop his physical transformations because he has little to no control when it happens. Thus, only in extreme cases is he driven into transforming. Because I roleplay that he tries to control himself with potions, transforming is thus more of a big deal for my character, and I like it that way. It really just comes down to personal preference.
-An additional note I'd like to make here is that when it comes to transformations, I like extreme cases of emotion being the driving factor because in ultima there are moons (plural), and the time it takes from night to day to night flies by rather fast while role playing. It is not to say that you couldn't just role play changing when theres a full moon, but its very hard to keep track of.
And finally, I would also agree that one born lycan has far greater control than one is bitten.
Hope some of this has helped, please feel free to post further questions. _________________ "You see I can not be forsaken, because I'm not the only one. We walk amongst you, beating, r#ping, must we hide from everyone?" - Jon Davis |

I dislike the end part of that list, the "gooney" things "inadiquite" players will make, I think it's creative, I mean, the people who made DnD pulled alot out their arses, but the other side of the coin, a good story teller can tell you the story you heard five minutes ago for free, and pay for it. Hmm,I suppose my final point here is...where's my damn vampire monkeys UO!? _________________

That list is from White Wolf, creators of the World of Darkness PnP , no D&D involved there.
White Wolf's rules are a bit more structured and realistic in comparison to D&D's, but since the World of Darkness runs alongside the real life timeline and doesn't exist within an entirely different universe, the lore and rules need to mesh into historical and modern day life without becoming too unbelievable for that scenario. _________________ "There are those who dream to escape reality, and there are those who dream to change it." |

Really. It doesn't matter. My point simply is...
If this is Ultima Online, why do you have to continually use other games, and other information for everything?
Why not simply make it up yourself- something that would relate exactly to the game your playing? _________________ Zari Melgair: We are all alts of Merci |
