Xandria waved her right hand, and watched the dirt move, engulfing the body of her latest victim. One more soul, which was needed, but lately she felt that it was pointless. Sure, she looked good still, and had seemed to have stopped ageing, though she didn’t know why. So, she didn’t have to worry about her looks. She had a home to go to each night, and she didn’t have to worry about anything. She was in the cabal, and everything there was going according to plan, though, there had been many hiccups along the way, the biggest being Steel deciding he was against her plans. Still, it was going smoothly, and the cabalist were working hard at what they planned. Yet, for some reason, she didn’t really care about that. She had more souls than she needed for a month, all well harvested and yet, she didn’t care. She saw her friends with children, and found herself wanting what they had. Yet, she at the same time, didn’t want children. That definitely wasn’t it. She could just take one and raise it if that were the need. Somehow it was just there, the feeling of ennui.

She looked around, trying to decide what was bothering her. Maybe it was she had nothing to do. Nightshade’s dolls were being produced, and everything was running smoothly there. She had ample demon names to conjure if needed. Yet, there was this feeling of discontent. True, she had not ran wild in a long time, causing trouble. She attributed that to maturity. She bit her lip, her mind racing. Maybe it was time to do something more. The only thing, though, was what was there to do? She was not a business woman like Shade, nor was she as inclined to study necromancy as Shade was. She had her minor experiments, but those were just for amusement, more than anything. She didn’t know what she wanted.

She walked a bit further, her feet slowly crushing the leaves beneath them as she stared in contemplation at the sky above. Was there more? She watched the sky, so beautiful, the night sky a home to her. Home. Maybe the clue was there. She moved her tail around her, and gazed at it. She had never found out who killed her father. The demand had been placed, and she didn’t understand why. Her mother said he was a follower of virtues, though she knew by virtue, she was not referring to what mere humans called virtues. Yet, she never explained them to her. Also, who were his parents? Were they alive? Did they too know her real name? Suddenly, the questions flooded her, and she closed her eyes, her hands letting go of her tail as she began to breathe deeply
