The Convergence Will Officially Begin At the Tolling Of

Eight Hours Past Midday.

The Topic of the Evening's Discourse Will Be

"The Soul: Fact or Fable?"

On the reverse, more text describes the particulars of the event.

Discourse will take the following form: Mr. Ashande will give a short introduction to the topic and provide a starting point for discussion. Those with a contribution to make should raise their hands and wait to be called upon. They will be given several minutes to state their view before another is called, who may then offer their own opinion or respond to one given by another. This will continue until the formal end of the event, which will be no later than two hours following its start. Stalled discourse may, at Mr. Ashande's discretion, lead to a premature termination of the Convergence.

Time and circumstance permitting, Mr. Ashande may remain following the formal end of the Convergence to continue discussion about the evening's topic or another, as well as to answer questions any remaining attendees may have.

The topic for this Convergence shall be "the Soul", with particular interest paid to its definition and to the question of its existence. Before attending, it is strongly urged that one gathers one's thoughts on the subject so as to be better prepared to offer an opinion. Major questions suggested to ask oneself are:

What is a soul? Do souls exist? If so, are they physical things? Is it just a mental quality? Emotional? Societal? Spiritual? Supernatural? Magical? Do I have a soul? Does anyone? Do all races possess souls? Do the undead? Are souls fundamentally different for each race? Is the possession of a soul a requisite of personhood? Of goodness? Of evilness? Of sapience? Of consciousness? Of life? Of existence? Do animals have souls? Plants? Celestial bodies? The Universe? Do souls persist after death?

"A subject the substance of which creates the divergence of paths upon which I daily tread. I shall look forward to attending this discussion with the greatest of zeal."
